300 Days In America: It’s time for Pittsburgh

Welcome back guys! This week I’m going to talk about one of my favorite cities in America. Many of you guys might think that it’s going to be New York, Florida or LA but no! That’s just so cliche. Many people already wrote about them. The city that I’m going to talk about this week is the city of Pittsburgh. It’s a city located in the Western of Pennsylvania. I have been there twice and just completely fell in love.

The reason that I wanted to visit this city so much is because my favorite book and movie ‘The Perks Of Being A Wallflower’ sets in Pittsburgh. So I was very excited whenever I passed any place that I saw in the film.

But that’s not just the main reason that I love this city. I love Pittsburgh because it’s a city that not really feel like city. Don’t want to confuse you guys but I just don’t know how to explain lol. It’s like you feel some kind of placid even though you are in the middle of the city. I think this is because the city is encompassed with mountains and river.

The first time I went to Pittsburgh with the school’s world language club. As soon as I heard about the trip, I wasn’t hesitated to sign my name in. Since Pittsburgh is not very far from Erie, we took around 2 hours to get there. We first dropped at the Duquesne Incline which is the 138 years old incline leads to the top of Mount Washington. At the top, we could see the panoramic view of Pittsburgh.

Then we had a Spanish dinner in the Pittsburgh dinning cruise. I really enjoyed trying new dishes and watched Spanish dance show.

The best part of the cruise was on the deck where I got to see the city light and the PNC Park, the baseball park which is the fifth home to Pittsburgh Pirates. We passed it when there was a game so it was cool.

The second time I went to Pittsburgh for Bastille concert. I love many songs from Bastille and this concert was really really awesome. There were not so many people so I got a pretty nice spot. My favorite part was when they performed ‘Pompeii’ and ‘The Night’. Another thing I liked was that although the it was an open air concert, the weather was really nice. Actually, I couldn’t imagine this kind of open air concert in Thailand lol.

Lastly, the best part in Pittsburgh for me was when we drove passed the tunnel and the Roberto Clemente Bridge. It made me thought of my favorite scene at the end of ‘The Perk Of Being A Wall Flower’ when the main character, Charlie, standing on the speeding truck while his car driving passed the tunnel that leads to the bridge. This scene infers that the tunnel represents Charlie’s passage from a wallflower to an teenager that actually living his life. So that’s probably the reason why I enjoyed driving passed this bridge so much lol.

I wouldn’t be surprised why Pittsburgh becomes one of my favorite cities. It’s a place where I will definitely go back if I have a chance. Because in that moment, I swear we were infinite 🙂

Thank you for your visit, stay tuned for the next journey!
